From the start, it’s role was set in stone, to be a trade core for the Astrum Network that was being planned […] Named Fortuna to symbolize it’s goal to bring prosperity to all the galaxy, it saw a fast colonization period, unlike that of most worlds that spend many years or decades as relatively small communities before the large immigrations occurred. On Fortuna the wave of arrivals came mere months after the first colony ship landed, and with an influx of resources streaming from Human space, it rapidly grew, outpacing even Headquarters, all to prepare it for its purpose […]”
“[…] The Astrum Network came online, and through the gates came forth hundreds of ships from each gate, many passing through towards the Galaxy Meeting on Headquarters, where all races at last saw face to face, after centuries of uplifting and biological preparations by RGT. Soon after traders came, all eager to start an age of galactic trade and cooperation. Back then, Fortuna had but ten starports in orbit around it, number that rapidly grew to meet demand for docking and trading for a galaxy hungry for exotic goods from other races […]”
“[…] Fortuna would be shoved into the spotlight in a noneconomic way during the First Wars, where some of the races tried to wage war on their new neighbors using the gates, only to be met with RGT’s fleet, the largest and most advanced, in the HUB system. The Network was not for attacking the other races and should a race break the peace agreement, the fleets of the growing alliance, precursor of the Galactic Federation, would soon move through their gate and siege their homeworld. The gate allowed the race to attack other home systems with ease, but it also opened their own system to be the one attacked, creating a new deterrent for war, not unlike the MAD system of the Cold War era Earth […] Once again, Fortuna was a battlefront during the Rapture Incident, which saw Sol System invaded and sieged by unknown assailants, the only entrance being the gate leading to Sol from the HUB, and so Fortuna engaged in a new type of trade, war supply chains and logistics management, giving birth to a profitable industry of hired tacticians, offering their services on Fortuna to plan wars or battles for you. Service which GalaPol used on several high profile missions […]”
“[…] As millennia passed by, Fortuna slowly grew bigger and bigger, rivalling several race homeworlds in population and power, both economic and political, but the logistics of managing a whole galaxy worth of trade was too much for spaceports, now in the thousands, to handle. So a massive proyect was started, financed not only by RGT, but by private entrepreneurs and traders, to replace Fortuna’s array of stations for a solid structure, a planet ring, straight out of science fiction, it would be like a planet sized wheel ringing the planet, a massive band where docks large enough to hold all of Galaxia’s ships at once and with automated cargo systems to connect it to Siezewell, Fortuna’s only moon, used exclusively as a container and cargo depot, to increase efficiency a hundred times. The ring would also house entire cities, eventually doubling Fortuna’s population, and giving it one of the most advanced shipyards of all the galaxy, and even adding massive weapon systems to defend the surrounding space from pirates or any potential future war […] Connected to the planet by eight towers, acting as space elevators, but mostly used as support for the ring (If built now the ring would be capable of holding itself on orbit by gravitonic generators) and housing vertical cities and atmospheric systems in their lower halves[…]”
“[…] It would be here were the entirety of the Galactic Fleet, the fusion of all regional fleets, GalaPol’s entire arsenal, and all pirate fleets set up base camp during the Twilight War, when THANATOS arrived at Galaxia and starting to capture entire planets worth of people for unknown reasons, to rapidly respond to distress calls and to ultimately regroup what was left of it for the Collapse Plan which saw THANATOS and the Karmaldian capital reduced to a black hole[…]”
